The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is one of the oldest universities in Hong Kong. Over eight decades of interdisciplinary research, PolyU has consistently pushed the boundaries of innovation. In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024, PolyU had 5 subjects ranked within the global top 20 and 21 subjects within the top 100, solidifying its place among the world's top 100 universities.

Innovating and identifying breakthroughs have always been essential elements of MEAN WELL's pursuit of excellence and the driving force behind its sustainable operations. Recognizing this shared vision, SDG Group – MEAN WELL Hong Kong Holdings Limited (MWHK) donated HK$1.5 million to PolyU to support student aid schemes, teaching and research development, academic studies, and innovative technologies. To express its heartfelt gratitude for MWHK 's support, PolyU named classroom CD304 on campus the "SDG MEAN WELL Classroom" and held a launch ceremony on April 30.

Following the launch ceremony, PolyU arranged a tour for the MEAN WELL team to visit the laboratories of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. During discussions on PolyU's current research in wireless charging for electric vehicles, high-efficiency circuit design, modular systems, and other green energy fields, the MEAN WELL team shared how the SDG Group promotes ESG concepts to upstream and downstream entities to achieve corporate sustainability and energy reduction goals. The SDG Group has already launched its carbon footprint platform and plans to work alongside its partners toward carbon neutrality to help build a better environment for future generations. The exchange on smart energy and clean energy strongly resonated with both MEAN WELL and the PolyU research team, fostering hopes for deeper industry-academia collaboration and the commercialization of research achievements in the future.

SDG Group – MWHK remains deeply committed to supporting local community initiatives. This donation to PolyU's academic programs will not only help students enhance their professional knowledge and skills, but also empower them to make meaningful contributions to the community and bring about a positive impact on the world.
