A Breakthrough for the SDGs Combining pandas—a symbol of peace and friendship—with the vibrant rhythm of African djembe drums, the SDGs Breakthrough Event provided students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) a platform to express themselves and showcase their unique talents and potential.

Co-organized by MEAN WELL's beneficiary organizations Greengrass Notes and SEN FREE, alongside Hong Kong partners and members of the public, the event mobilized over 100 SEN students and 50 able-bodied individuals to perform African drums together in an attempt to break a world record. Strictly aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), which are also core values of the MEAN WELL Group—the event demonstrated peaceful inclusion, equality, and multiculturalism, marking a major step toward sustainable development!

The event's theme song, Beat as One, was composed and written by Wilson, Goodwill Ambassador of Greengrass Notes. The lyrics convey a powerful message: "Overcome personal obstacles; let the drumbeats invigorate Hong Kong. You and I beat together, encouraging, integrating, and caring for one another." The song captured the SEN students' yearning for social acceptance and equality, allowing more people to hear their voices. Ultimately, the event attracted over a thousand supporters who drummed and sang together to the same rhythm, witnessing this historic moment!

Through this performance, SEN children not only gained greater self-confidence, but were also helped to interact with the general public, understand social norms, and integrate into society—ensuring every participant felt loved and supported. MEAN WELL hopes to foster deeper public understanding of the SEN community, showcase their talents, and advocate for equal educational and gender opportunities, thereby planting seeds of respect and inclusion. Ultimately, by "touching lives with life," we will continue to promote social inclusion and create equal opportunities for every student!

This event was more than just a groundbreaking drumming event; it was a significant step forward toward achieving core sustainable development goals. Let us work hand in hand to build a more harmonious society!
